Major Microsoft Copilot Update

Major Microsoft Copilot Update: What Your Business Needs to Know

From 1 June, Microsoft Copilot has received a major upgrade that significantly enhances its capabilities across Microsoft 365. These changes are especially relevant to organisations already using M365 or considering wider adoption of AI tools.

At Kick, we’ve been reviewing the new features and speaking to customers and internal teams about how this impacts day-to-day work. Here’s a breakdown of what’s changed and why it matters.

What’s new in Copilot?

If you’re using Copilot Chat or Enterprise Chat, you now have access to the new GPT-4o model. This is the latest from OpenAI and brings Copilot much closer to the full ChatGPT experience, but within the secure Microsoft 365 environment.

New capabilities include:

  • Running Python scripts directly in chat

  • Creating flowcharts and diagrams on demand

  • Generating images from text

  • Faster, more context-aware responses

There’s also now an improved way to save and share prompts across your organisation, making it easier to reuse good ideas and embed repeatable processes.

Prompt sharing: what to know

Microsoft has introduced a Prompts app in Teams for managing and sharing AI prompts internally.  However, this feature requires a paid Copilot licence.  For those without access, prompts can still be viewed and used via the web version:

Enhanced features for Microsoft 365 Copilot licence holders

If your business has a Copilot for Microsoft 365 licence, there’s even more available.

You now have access to the GPT-O3 Mini model, which powers two new AI agents:

  • Analyst Agent: Supports deeper analysis of Excel spreadsheets and structured data

  • Researcher Agent: Gathers and interprets insights from Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, websites, and uploaded files

These tools are designed to support more complex analysis and research use cases directly inside the Microsoft environment.

Why it matters

This marks a significant shift in how AI can support knowledge work. Microsoft is moving Copilot from being a productivity add-on to a daily-use platform embedded throughout M365.

With secure access via browser, desktop, or mobile apps, Copilot is becoming a go-to tool for teams across operations, finance, marketing, and beyond.

There is also a separate M365 Copilot app available in mobile app stores. Note that this is distinct from the free, non-commercial version of Copilot.

Microsoft has published a short video introducing the Analyst and Researcher agents and showing how to use them in practice. It’s worth a look if you’re planning to embed these tools in your workflow.

We’ll continue to explore real-world use cases and share tips as the tools mature. If you’d like advice on how Copilot fits into your business or support to get started, speak to your Kick account manager or get in touch.
